You want skills, not agents

The agent hype isn’t about AI capability. It’s about human org design, and we’re copying the wrong thing.

I built agents with job titles. CMO. Brand Strategist. Researcher. A whole org chart in code. Then I ripped it all out and replaced it with skills. The performance difference wasn’t marginal.

Since OpenClaw, and every agent SDK, framework, and demo that followed, the default architecture for “serious AI work” has been agent systems. You build a Research Agent, a Writing Agent, a Review Agent. They communicate. They hand off. They “collaborate.” The metaphor is borrowed directly from human organizations. That metaphor is the problem.
